There is a specific rhythm to motorhome life: some days are for world-famous landmarks, and some days are for finding the perfect laundry mat and a Dunkin’ Donuts. This week, we had both!

The “Alien” Landscape of Almería Driving west from Los Olivos, we encountered the “Poly Tunnels.” It’s hard to capture the scale on camera, but for kilometers, the horizon is a shimmering sea of white plastic. We learned that this area gets 3,000 hours of sun a year, making it the fruit and vegetable capital of Europe. It’s a “Happy Detour” that makes you appreciate where your grocery store produce actually comes from!

Crossing the Runway into the UK Gibraltar was a trip! It’s not every day you have to wait for a plane to land before you can walk across the runway into another country. We stayed at a great Marina on the Spanish side (La Línea) with incredible views of the Rock.

The highlight? The monkeys! Taking a taxi tour was the best decision we made—our guide was fantastic, and yes, we had a few macaques try to join us through the van window! Even better was seeing Salsa overcome her fear of the waves. Watching her get her “sea legs” in the Mediterranean was a proud pet-parent moment.

Recharging in Jerez After hitting the 10km walking mark in one day, we needed a “veg day.” We found a secure gated park-up in a shopping complex in Jerez. It might sound “janky” to stay in a mall parking lot, but with hot showers, laundry, and a secure gate, it was exactly what we needed to prep for our next big leg: Portugal.

Check out our latest video on YouTube to see the monkeys in action and the “Sea of Plastic” for yourself!
