So we climbed up a winding mountain pass, and then a narrow road to get to Forest Rhapsody, the name of the little A-Frame Cabin that would be our Christmas Get Away. We had been with Holly driving around for almost four months, and wanted a break. In addition to the cabin, Kasey decided to treat herself to a few days of Netflix. We saw some good movies, and a couple not so good choices. Rodney did eat well.

After our four days in the cabin, we headed back south through Niksic, and farther. Our next stop wasn’t far, but it did take us some time to climb up another narrow road to get close to the Ostrog Monastery. We found a place to park, and it was cool and windy up on the mountain side. We planned to hike to the upper part, but the day we wanted to go was very windy.

From there, we headed further south trying to figure out if a lower elevation, or even getting closer to the coast would help the overnight temperatures. We ended up at Purple Eye Winery and Estate. This was highly rated on Park4Night, and it lived up to the hype. In addition to a wonderful camping experience, the hosts were generous with a carafe of wine and cookies to celebrate New Year’s Eve and the New Year.

From there, we wanted to head to the coast, so we took off on a mountain pass with a stop in Centinje – The Old Royal Captial. It was not a good decision. While the town seemed to have lots of things we wanted to see, we were stymied by the cold and SNOW.

When we were able to leave, we decided to head south and head for lower land, that meant getting close to Lake Shkodor, so that is where we headed. We found a nice camping spot outside of Podgorica, and stayed a couple of night to get showered and other things taken care of.

When we pulled away, we headed to place that we might be able to park, and have views of the lake. The weather, and the actual location was not going to work, so we headed for the border to go back into Albania. We did what we could with pictures of the lake area.
