So, it was Friday Night and nothing had been planned for Saturday. Sure, we could finishing up packing the house that is for sale, but c’mon, it’s Friday Night!

We weren’t idle for long, Kasey’s phone rang, and plans were being made to get together with friends and take the Kayak’s for dip in Palmerville Lake. Not really a lake, as it is really part of Badin Lake, but it is cut off by a rail line. This makes it a nice secluded area for the kayaks with calm water.

Morning came way too early, just ask Kasey. While she packed up water, sun screen and snacks, I loaded the Kayak. I probably should do some pictures or a video, but I built a custom rack that rolls around. It goes right up against the tailgate of the truck, and slides right in. I can load and unload all by myself, at least in and out of the garage. It’s a big boat, affectionately named, “Titaniyak”, so it can be a lot to haul around.

Before we left the house, the others joined us, as one need to use our bathroom before hitting the water. It was a short trip the boat lunch on the end of Palmerville Road, so it wasn’t long before the boats were getting wet.

You can see that it was a great day to be on the water, and dip a foot in. If you need more to convince you, here is a video. You can also watch our Empty Nest Adventure on Relive. https://www.relive.com/view/vmqXJjMxMoO

As the time wore on, the sun got higher in the sky, and created some heat. In one direction, there was a little bit of a breeze, but to head back, we had that breeze at our backs, and the cool air doesn’t get through life vests and chair backs.

We would split ways with our friends for a few hours, but join them later for dinner, and of course talking about our quickly planned paddle.
